tozero is Europe's first startup that recycles lithium-ion batteries and was founded in July 2022 by Sarah Fleischer and Dr. Ksenija Milicevic Neumann. tozero has set itself the task of closing the battery circuit in Europe. With the innovative recycling process, all critical materials contained in the battery, such as lithium, graphite, nickel and cobalt, are recovered in a sustainable manner and fed into local value chains. For this, tozero collected 3.5 million Euros in a pre-seed financing round to build its first prototype system in Munich.

Sarah is a serial entrepreneur and tozero is her third startup. Before founding tozero, she was the lead commercial strategy and partnerships at German unicorn Forto. Before that, she was an advisor to the Luxembourg Space Agency, where she launched the €120 million early-stage VC fund Orbital Ventures and launched the ESRIC startup incubator together with the European Space Agency. She has a master's degree in mechanical engineering, is a Fellow of the CDTM, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School.

"The time at TUM was invaluable to me, because I was not only able to enjoy a first-class education, but also to develop myself personally as part of the numerous student initiatives, such as TUM Hyperloop."

Exchange ideas openly with founder Sarah Fleischer about experiences, stumbling blocks and possible first steps on the subject of founding a company and get a taste of start-up air at tozero on site.
