Verdira Biotech

Proving that protecting people and the planet go hand in hand with business success
Mission & Vision
Verdira Biotech is on a mission to make clean, healthy air a reality for everyone. Instead of settling for traditional approaches that merely delay the problem, the team is developing a new generation of biotech-powered filters that don’t just trap the pollutant but actively break down harmful particles at the source. By tackling the root causes of air pollution with innovation that delivers measurable impact, Verdira Biotech aims to transform a persistent environmental challenge into a solvable one.
Founders’ Journey
Amelie Skopp and Matea Marosevic, two biotech entrepreneurs, started their journey with a clear belief: that environmental protection and business success can strengthen each other, and that real change starts with people willing to lead.
From the beginning, Verdira Biotech’s founders faced the dual pressures of building a company and engaging with a problem as urgent and widespread as air pollution. Limited resources, steep learning curves, and the need to make confident decisions in the face of uncertainty pushed the team to stay resilient and focus deeply on their vision. These early challenges didn’t slow them down, they strengthened the founders’ commitment and shaped Verdira Biotech into a solution-driven team.
Key Milestones & Support from Our Ecosystem
Verdira Biotech has hit meaningful milestones early on. They won the TUM IDEAward, placed third in the Women Start-up Award, and secured non-dilutive governmental follow-up funding, all early validations of the technology’s potential and the team’s direction.
Throughout this journey, TUM Venture Labs has supported Verdira Biotech as a key project partner, helping with preliminary market research and connecting the team with initial customer segments. This guidance has been instrumental in sharpening Verdira Biotech’s focus and accelerating progress toward real-world deployment of their biotech filters.
